Council Tree Strategies are becoming an increasingly important management tool for local government to make communities nicer places to live.  Elmbridge Borough Council, in the heart of Surrey, is using its Tree Strategy to guide sustainable development, protecting the best and planting new trees for the future, to ensure that residents have pleasant and healthy places to live and work.  During his time at Elmbridge as its Senior Tree Officer, Alex Needs oversaw the evolution of the emerging Tree Strategy and his move to Barrell Tree Consultancy brings this expertise to the private sector.
